  There are some names that have become a guarantee of quality. One of those is Pasquale Librandi.  And 2011 is no different, as this family run farm has been awarded the prize of Olive Mill of the Year by Flos Olei 2011- the guide to the world's best olive oils. This beautiful farm was started in 1967 by Pasquale Librandi and is now in the hands of his thirty-something daughters who have converted it to a fully Organic production following century-old traditions and using progressive thinking. This is a specialized olive grove of 155 hectares with 28,000 trees - all of a single cultivar - the prestigious and delicious Nocellara del Belice. The result is an intensely fruity golden yellow oil that is full and round and rich in notes of medium ripe tomato, white apple, ripe banana. Bitterness and pungency are clear and harmonic with a sweet almond finish. Ideal on full flavoured dishes with ingredients like porcini, radicchio, lentils, sausages, pan-seared meats, grilled fish and aged cheese. In addition to their award as "Frantoio of the Year", their Organic Extra Virgin has received a ranking of 97/100 by Flos Olei.
